Junior Rules

1. All entry forms should be submitted to the Secretaries Office on the Fair  Grounds Tuesday, or Wednesday of Fair Week, to get your tags to be put on your items to be judged for Thursday.

2. For those Families that have Multiple Entries, it is advised that you mail in to the Secretaries Office from September 1st. To:

3. Parental Supervision, but all work must be done by the child.

4. Please Follow Specified Instructions, Failure to do so may result in a lesser prize or disqualification.

5. Junior Exhibits will be accepted in the Exhibit Hall (Curling Rink) with Exhibitors Tags Attached, Thursday between 8:30 A.M. to 12 Noon, to be Judged that Day.

6. No more than one Entry by an Exhibitor in each section.

7. All Juniors may show in a higher age group, but not in a lower one.

8. If more than 6 Entries in any one Section, 4th Prize will be given same money as third.

9. Prize money will be paid on Saturday of fair for Junior Department, at the Secretaries' Office on the fair grounds, beside the exhibit hall (curling rink).

10. Prizes will be awarded as follows: 1st. $3.00 2nd. $2.00 3rd. $1.00

11. Specials are Individually Awarded.

12. Exhibit Hall will close day of fair at 4:45 P.M. and re-open at 5:30 P.M. to pick up exhibits.

13. No exhibits to be removed from Hall until 5:30 P.M. Saturday.

14. Committee will not be responsible for articles left after 6 P.M. Saturday.

Theme: PROMOTING YOUR FAIR Must Be Hand Drawn Poster size: Minimum 8 1/2" X 11" (28cm x 43.5cm), Maximum12" x 18" (30.5cm x 46cm) Each entry must be mounted on a BLACK ART CARD to give a 2" border. The winning Poster will be eligible to enter in the District No. 4 competition. The District winner will compete at the O.A.A.S. Convention in February.

The picture cutouts are to form another picture, example: hair turns into water. Use any medium, be creative, make the collage unique to your personality.

Special 4 - Rice Krispies (Creative Krispies)
Judged on appearance, taste, texture and creativity of recipe and presentation.

Rice Krispies Squares
  • 1/4 Cup butter or margarine 50ml.
  • 5 Cups miniature marshmallows or 40 regular
  • (250 g. pkg.) 1.25L
  • 1/2 tsp. Vanilla extract (optional) 2ml.
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal 1.5L
  1. 1. In large saucepan over low heat, melt butter.
  2. Add marshmallows
  3. Stir until melted and well blended.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Stir in Vanilla. Add Cereal, stirring until coated.
  6. Cutouts:
    Press warm cereal mixture into buttered shallow pan. When slightly cooled, cut out desired shapes with cookie cutters (i.e. valentine hearts, Christmas trees, bells, stars, diamonds, animals). Decorate as desired. You may draw shapes on waxed paper and press warm mixture to fit, using buttered fingers, if desired.
