Rules of the Competition

​

Deadline for entries: FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 17th, 2021

Judge: Heather Leach

​

  • 1st to 3rd place prizes to be sent by mail

  • Prizes: 1st - 20.00, 2nd - 15.00, 3rd - 10.00 (for gift certificates from local businesses including Greenhawk, Horse and Hound, Kawartha Dairy, etc.)

  • No fee for entry

  • Videos should be maximum of 5 minutes, if required

 

*Note: If you don’t have a ring at home, you can use what space you have. Make sure you have help and that you are safe

Classes

​

  1. OPEN SHOWMANSHIP

  • Open to English/Western/Other

  • Horse/pony/foal to be shown in a bridle or halter, presented in hand with handler in proper show attire and positioning (crops allowed)

  • Braiding mane and tail recommended for English

  • Four still photos required: Front, rear and both sides of your horse.

*Note: Handler should position themselves as if photographer is the virtual judge. 

​

2. LEAD LINE

  • Open to English/Western/Other riders, 10 years and under

  • Should be suitability attired

  • Side walkers and handlers permitted

​

3. COSTUME

  • Open to everyone

  • No limit on the number of persons required

  • Minimum 1 photo required, maximum of 3 photos

​

4. BEGINNER WALK/TROT

  • Open to English/Western/Other riders, 13 years and under

  • Please provide a video showing rider at walk/trot (sitting and or posting) both ways of the ring and a finishing halt facing the virtual judge (photographer)

5. OPEN WALK/TROT

  • Open to English/Western/Other riders, 14 years and older 

  • See Beginner Walk Trot

6. GREEN/NOVICE ENGLISH EQUITATION

  • Open to riders and/or horses in their first year of showing

  • Please provide a video of the rider at walk/trot (sitting and posting), canter both ways of the ring and a finishing halt facing the virtual judge (photographer)

7. OPEN ENGLISH EQUITATION

  • Open to everyone

  • Please see Green/Novice Equitation

8. OPEN HUNTER OVER A FENCE

  • Open to everyone

  • Please provide a video of the rider at walk/trot, canter both ways of the ring and a finishing halt facing the virtual judge (photographer). Then from the halt please proceed back out to the ring and jump one fence max 2’ preferably at a canter, finish again with a halt facing the virtual judge.

9. OPEN FUN HORSE PICTURE

  • Open to everyone

  • With this class you can be creative; you can be mounted, tacked up or not.  You can have more then one person, horse or other animal with your horse.

  • Suggestions: Having fun with your horse/pony, relaxing, hanging out, trail riding, jumping.  This is completely open!

  • Please add a line or two to describe your choice.

10. JUNIOR STORY

  • For any writer 13 years and under

  • Should be maximum 1 page double spaced

  • Topics:

    • “WHAT I LOVE ABOUT MY HORSE (remember you don’t have to own a horse you can have one you like)

    • “WHAT I LOVE ABOUT HORSES” (remember you don’t have to be a rider to enter)
