The Bobcaygeon Agricultural Society will be holding an Ambassador Contest this year and also a

Junior Ambassador Competition .

Junior Ambassador: **NEW**

$75.00 to each participant

 

The Bobcaygeon Agricultural Society is holding an Ambassador of the Fair Competition. The reigning ambassador will have the opportunity to:

 

  • Represent their community

  • Actively participate in local events

  • Interact with members of their Agricultural Society and community

  • Make new friends

  • Practice leadership for future education and work experiences

  • Celebrate agriculture

Rules and Guidelines

 

The public competition will be held on Friday, October 2 at the stage of the Byron Martin Emporium (Bobcaygeon Community Centre).

The program is open to single ladies and gentlemen that will be 17 years of age on or before the second Monday in August and not have reached their 24th birthday by Labour Day.

 

• Contestants must be a resident of Canada for two years and a resident of his/her Fair District for six months.

 

• Contestants must be able to attend to all Ambassador duties during the Bobcaygeon Fall Fair and for the 12-month period following. Prior to the competition commencing, contestants should disclose any known scheduling conflicts (i.e., work, school, travel plans).

 

• Contests should appear in appropriate attire.

 

• The competition will include a private interview with judges, a short prepared speech (approximately 3-5 minutes), and a period of Question & Answer on stage.

 

• The competition will be judged on the basis of: 

• Poise and composure 

• Character

• Public-speaking ability

• General knowledge of the community and fair

• General knowledge of agriculture and current affairs

• In the event the Ambassador cannot complete their duties, the 1st runner up will assist.

 

• The Ambassador is expected to attend various events on the Saturday of the fair (i.e., parade, ribbon and trophy presentation) and circulate the fair to interact with volunteers and the public. The Ambassador is expected to attend to their fair duties in appropriate dress (i.e., footwear suitable to standing and walking for long periods).

 

• The Ambassador of the Fair will be asked to represent the Bobcaygeon Fall Fair at various functions throughout the year, including some of but not limited to the following:

 

• Bobcaygeon Agricultural Society President’s Dinner (October)

• Santa Claus Parade (December) • Bobcaygeon Agricultural Society’s General Meeting (January)

• Convention of the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies (February)

• Canada Day Parade {July)

• Midnight Madness {August)

• CNE Ambassador of the Fairs Pageant (August)

• 2020 Ambassador of the Fair Competition
 

*For the crowned Senior Ambassador, half of prize money will be paid out at the time of competition and the remaining half will be paid out upon completion of their duties during the reigning year.
Contestants may appear only once in the C.N.E. Ambassador Pageant

Junior Ambassador Competition

• Contestants must be a resident of Canada for two years and a resident of his/her Fair District for six months.

 

• Contestants must be able to help with Ambassador duties during the Bobcaygeon Fall Fair and for some events during the 12-month period following.

• Contests should appear in appropriate attire.

 

• The contestant should expect to have an interview, deliver a short prepared speech (approximately 1- 2 minutes) and participate in a period of Question & Answer on stage.

 

• The competition will be judged on the basis of: • Poise and composure • Character • Public-speaking ability

 

• General knowledge of the community and fair

 

• General knowledge of agriculture and current affairs

 

• In the event the Junior Ambassador cannot complete their duties, the 1st runner up will assist.
