It has been my honour and pleasure to represent the Bobcaygeon Agricultural Society this year as the 2018-2019 Ambassador. I was raised outside of Bobcaygeon, and the Fall Fair has been a longstanding tradition in my family and is by far my favourite event of the year. I have always participated in the fair in one way or another. Whether simply an onlooker at the tractor pull, participating in the 4-H horse shows, or volunteering with the educational school visits, this fair has always had a special place in my heart. Events likes these are also great way to bring the community together and celebrate the agricultural aspects of our lives.
Becoming the Ambassador has been an amazing experience for me in so many unexpected ways. This opportunity provides so many chances to meet other ambassadors from all across Ontario and really open your eyes to what Agricultural Societies do for their communities. It has also provided a different perspective and appreciation to the inner workings of the fair and all the hard work that goes into it. It has been amazing to have this opportunity to represent my community at events such as the 2019 Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies Convention and I look forward to competing at the CNE this August.
For anyone who is wanting to try something new, I highly recommend the ambassador program as a great way to meet new people and create memories along the way.
I cannot express enough thanks to the board of directors, and the many volunteers that come together each year to make the Bobcaygeon Fall Fair possible. I look forward to seeing everyone this September, for the Bobcaygeon Fall Fair truly is the ‘Daddy of ‘em All’!
